Kensington/Wheaton
Kensington, another historic community listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was founded in 1890. The town, near the Connecticut Avenue beltway exit, is known for its elaborate Victorian homes and antique row commercial area.
Wheaton is a new downtown revitalization area of Montgomery County with ethnically- diverse dining and unique shopping. Wheaton is one of Montgomery County’s three designated arts and entertainment districts.
Brookside Gardens is Montgomery County's incomparable, award-winning 50-acre public display garden situated within Wheaton Regional Park. Included in the gardens are several distinct areas: Aquatic Garden, Azalea Garden, Butterfly Garden, Children's Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Style Garden, Trial Garden, Rain Garden and the Woodland Walk. Featured seasonal events include the Wings of Fancy Butterfly Exhibit, held May – September and the Festival of Lights, held November – January.
The role of the trolley in American culture is showcased at the National Capital Trolley Museum in Colesville, and features a wonderful display of historic cars and a variety of educational exhibits. From the late 1800s until the mid-1960s, trolley cars served as an important means of inner-city transportation in the United States and Europe.

throughout the county, including The Visitors Center at the Washington DC, Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which premieres the film “Legacy” in its 500-seat auditorium. “Legacy” is a film portraying Mormon faith and the hopes and trials of the early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Particularly noteworthy at the Temple is the stunning architecture and magnificent gardens.
