Creating a Legacy PREMIER Bankcard awards scholarships to BHSU student employees


Each year PREMIER Bankcard gives a $1,000 scholarship to Black Hills State University students who are employed at PREMIER Bankcard in Spearfish. This semester 55 students have been awarded the scholarship. The scholar- ship is available for BHSU students who are enrolled as full-time students and are maintaining a work schedule of at least 20 hours per week at PREMIER Bankcard. PREMIER Bankcard donates roughly $100,000 a year to BHSU for a variety of scholarships and programs on campus.

Steve Meeker, vice president for University Advancement, says that BHSU is fortunate to have such an experi- enced fundraiser join their staff. “We are thrilled that Dwight Hansen is now part of the fundraising team at Black Hills State University,” Meeker says. “His skills in strategic planning, grant writing, alumni relations, and working with boards and volunteers will be extremely beneficial to the University.”

Hansen earned his bachelor’s degree in history education from Wayne State College, Wayne, Neb., and a master’s degree in politi- cal science/public administration from USD. His early work experience includes time as a bank vice president, a small business owner, budget analyst for the State of South Dakota, teacher and coach.

was a member of Kappa Delta Pi and was elected Swarm Day queen in 1949. She was involved in several local organiza- tions and enjoyed dancing, skiing, trav- eling, computers, and helping with the senior center newspaper.
