What has been inspiring you lately? I’m finding the Harajuku style very inspiring, I have done for a while, but at the moment I’m especially loving Sailor Collars, Bloomers, Polkadots and Grungy Shabby Chic Texture.


What’s the most rewarding aspect of working for yourself in a creative business? And the most frustrating? Working for yourself gives you so much freedom, you can work in some free time to do things you want to do (instead of pleading with a boss for time off!). But you always have a sense of this or that needs to be done, so your freedom to do things other than work is really blighted. There’s always something else you could do, or should do, you’ve really got to be an organised person, and, when that

chatty Auntie pops round for a cup of tea (because you do ‘nothing’ now, during the day!) you have to learn to say that you ARE working, and ask her to come back later.


What are your tools of the trade, and one which is your favourite? It has to be our lovely printer, as I mentioned earlier, she is part of the family! It was expensive, but if you are producing art prints via your normal home printer, then you are kidding yourself, the results are NOT the same as a proper art printer - not only do I know that, but your customers know that too. Our customers get prints that will last for generations, and they look great! I only want my artwork to be produced perfectly, so I won’t cut corners. My customers appreciate that, and that’s why they come back time and time again!


How do you see gorjuss™ developing over the next 2 - 3 years? The gorjuss™ brand is being developed by Santoro London (www.santoro-graphics.com), and we are starting to see more and more gorjuss™ products being developed. These products are being made by well known manufacturers and are reaching well known high street stores too. This brings the gorjuss™ brand to new people, so we hope this continues over the next few years, and we get some great products out there for people to enjoy - the future is gorjuss™!


What advice would you give someone starting a creative business? First thing I would say is that it really isn’t for everyone - just because you
