MEET: gorjuss™ by Becky Pearce of www.red-bird-jewellery.co.uk


How did you get started with gorjuss™ - how did it all begin? Hello! I’m Suzanne, half of the gorjuss™ art team, I do all the artwork, the drawing, doodling and colouring-in, and Grant (who’s also my husband) does all the cutting out, packaging and posting!


Like a lot of women I was a full time mum, at home for most of the day, this led me to realising I could really try and make a go of what I’d always wanted to do, become an Artist.


What steps did you take to create your own business? I believe it’s important to research every part of a business before you set it up, so I spent nearly a year learning everything I needed before I jumped in. I’m very proud it was a success, but I think being able to

just seemed obvious to use it as the brand name. Also, the first thing the majority of people say in reaction to the artwork is “It’s gorgeous!” If you are thinking of your own business name, remember that a short, catchy brand name always works best!

How did you come up with your company name? It started as an online name, something I would use for the profiles I’d set up (it’s what Grant used to call me via SMS phone messages). The name stuck, and it


Describe your work setting. We work from home, but we don’t have a studio, not even a room set aside for the business. We’ve thought about renting out premises more than a few times, but we love the way we live. The business is us, we really live and breathe the business, letting it be part of how we live. With IKEA shelving being our most prized possession, it’s all kept neatly, but still at hand when needed!
