MEET: Paper-cutting Artists by Christine of www.paperandcloth.co.uk

Paper-cutting is a beautiful and delicate art form. UK Handmade conducted four 30 second interviews with UK-based paper- cutting artists: Rob Ryan, Suzy Taylor, Helen Foers and Jonathan Chapman to find out a little bit about them and to show you just some of their beautiful work.

You’ve worked on numerous commissions from book covers to dresses – which is your favourite one so far? Anything that I’m working on currently is always my favourite job.

What has been inspiring you lately? The new ceramics gallery at the V&A, it’s totally stunning.

Did you always dream of being an artist when you were growing up? Not at all, I didn’t dream about being anything.

Can you give us any sneak previews of what we can expect next from you?

I have just finished working with Lulu Guinness on a lovely bag which will be released later this year. Coming out in September is “The Gift” a new children’s book by Carol Ann Duffy, which I did paper-cut illustrations for. I have also designed a needlepoint cushion kit for Emily Peacock. Lastly, I am currently working towards two shows in November; a ceramics show in The Shire Hall Gallery in Stafford and a paper-cuts show at The Air Gallery on Dover Street in London.
