discuss Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls, author of the popular Glass Castle. This read is destined to become a classic. All are invited to come and enjoy reading and sharing on the second Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. The group plans to meet in the Card Room but members should check with the Front Desk for the exact location.

Ilustrado by Miguel Syjuco, winner of the Man Asian Literary Prize for 2008, has been selected by the Evening Literary Group for its September 2010 read. This novel of the Philippines begins with a battered body pulled from the
Hudson River in New York City. Taken from the world is Crispen Salvador, the controversial lion of Philippine literature. Missing is the only manuscript of his fi nal book, a work meant to rescue him from obscurity by exposing the crimes of the Filipino ruling families. Miguel, his student and only remaining friend, goes to Manila to investigate.
Ilustrado is brilliantly conceived and stylishly executed. It is also ceaselessly entertaining and effervescent with humor. Join the group to discuss Ilustrado Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. in a private dining room.
