A "New Look" car for less than $150

(MS) -- Shiny wheels. Flashy paint. Tricked out trim. There's nothing like the look of a brand new car. If buying a new car is a budget buster, it's easy to give your current ride that "brand new" look for less than $150. All it takes is a little imagination, some spray paint and a few tips from the experts at Rust-Oleum. Here's how:

* Customize your wheels without the custom price tag. New wheels can set you back over a thousand dollars; however, it's easy to give your existing wheels an expensive look for less than $30 with Rust-Oleum High Performance Wheel spray paint. Try a color like Steel to enhance the color of your current plastic hub caps, alumi- num or steel wheels. Or, use Graphite or Flat Black to give them the appearance of their ex- pensive custom counterparts. It's also available in a Clear Coat that you can add as a top coat for an extra layer of protection.

* Add personality with a hot metallic textured fi nish. Consider customizing your steering wheel, dashboard, cup holders and license plate frames with Rust-Oleum Textured Metallic. The only paint of its kind, it gives surfaces a one-of- a-kind textured, metallic look.

* Revive your interior. Rain, snow, dirt and daily wear and tear can wreak havoc on car interi- ors. Why not restore the appearance of vinyl, simulated leather and fabrics, like seats, car door panels, vinyl car tops, and fl oor mats with Rust-Oleum Fabric and Vinyl spray paint? Bring your current interior back to life with popular colors like Flat Black, Sand or Gray. Or, try Gloss Red, Gloss Black or Gloss Blue for a touch of the unexpected!

* Don't forget the undercoat. Harsh weather, salt and other chemicals can lead to damage from rust and corrosion that will signifi cantly shorten the life of your ride and cost you a pretty penny. While a professional undercoating can add years to the life of your vehicle, it can be expensive too. But it's easy to do-it-yourself with Rust-Oleum Professional Undercoating. The black, rubberized fi nish creates a protective barrier between the bottom of your car and the elements that prevent rust and corrosion.

Money Saving oung Drivers

(METRO) - Typically, young adults pay more for car insur- ance than anyone else under age 70 because they are con- sidered the riskiest drivers on the road. While there is no way for young adults to speed up the aging process, that doesn't mean they're helpless in the face of high insurance premi- ums.

Among the more popular ways for young and even seasoned drivers to lower their rates include the following:

• take a defensive driver course

• raise comprehensive and col- lision coverage deductibles

• commute using public trans- portation and let the insur- ance company know

• buy a home or renter's policy with the same car insurance company

• buy a safer car

Another way to save money on auto insurance is to pur- chase a vehicle with front and side airbags, antilock brakes, automatic seatbelts, and daytime running lights. Many insurance companies give discounts for these safety features.

If the consumer owns an older vehicle, it may be a good idea to drop the collision and com- prehensive coverages from the policy because both coverages require the insured to pay a deductible in the event they fi le a claim, and in some cases that may be more than the car is worth.

Vehicle owners who were recently married or turned 25 years of age will also notice a considerable drop in auto insurance rates because insur- ance companies view married couples and people 25 and older as more "stable" and less of a risk.

Young adult drivers who live with their parents but don't own their own car can save money by staying on their par- ents' policy. This saves money because parents are considered lower- risk drivers and will likely have a better auto insurance rate than a young driver with their own policy.

Finally, look into what other insurance coverages you

If you have health insurance through your employer, you can waive Personal Injury Pro- tection (PIP), which pays for your medical expenses in the event of an accident. At times, some car insurance companies will allow you to limit medical damages under your unin- sured motorist coverage in exchange for a lower premium.

Younger drivers are often on the hook for higher insurance premiums than their older counterparts. However, there are numerous ways for young adults to save money on their vehicle insurance.
