i-on EDINBURGH THIS MONTH…
W
e’re really proud to announce that i-on is officially five years old this month. And what a long way we’ve come
from the pre launch days working out of the spare room in Laura’s flat on St Stephen Street, anxiously waiting to see if the mag would be a hit with the people of Edinburgh.
Fortunately for us, since the first unveiling of i-on at our launch party in 2005, we’ve had hundreds of emails, phone calls and conversations full of compliments for the magazine, and we’re delighted. So, a massive thank you to everybody who has supported the magazine over the past five years; readers, advertisers, contributors and friends - and long may it continue.
One of the most asked questions about i-on is if we ever struggle for editorial content. The answer? Turns out we picked a great little city with so much going on every month that it’s been a breeze. To think of all the new places that have opened in the past five years and how the city has changed; the influx of Michelin-starred chefs setting up residence here, the rise of
secret enclaves like the West End Village and Thistle Street, and the huge amount of quality independent bars that have added character and charm to the city’s social scene are only starting points. In our main feature, we discover what a difference five years makes by asking some Edinburgh residents how life and the city has changed for them (page 36).
September’s also the start of a new season and we take a look at some of the trends for Autumn/Winter in our fashion section (from p44) as well as lots of pages of news on more new places, products and events that are happening around the city in the next month.
We’re loving this month’s competition too, a pamper package for two at Harvey Nichols. To enter turn to page 10. Congratulations also to last month’s winner, Kathryn MacKinnon, who picked up her copy of i-on in Manna House Bakery and won a fabulous ToyWatch, courtesy of Laing Boutique.
Until next month, enjoy i-on
