Do Something Really Worthwhile! R

otary International in Great Britain and Ireland, is an organisation of

more than 55,000 men and women who volunteer their time, talents, professional skills and energy to improving the lives of people in their local communities and others around the world. Rotary Chandlers Ford

is one of the 1,850 Rotary clubs active in Great Britain and Ireland and they aim to give support in this locality as well as overseas. Examples of their involvement last year include: • The Hiltingbury Community Centre

• Eastleigh Homestart • Eastleigh Young Carers • Kids Out with local special needs school

• The Army Benevolent Fund • Shelter Boxes for Haiti • Polio Eradication Project More recently there was a fund raising effort for the floods in Pakistan for which member Graham Payne gave this update and thanks: The Rotary Club of

Chandlers Ford & Itchen Valley would like to thank

the members of the public who gave so generously to our appeal for funds to supply emergency shelter accommodation,

water

purification equipment, tools and clothing to the victims of the disastrous flooding in Pakistan. We are most grateful to the

Waitrose Store in Chandlers Ford for facilitating our collection on their premises. This Aid Equipment is

packaged in the form of a large Shelter Box and thanks to the generous donations received from the public on a recent Saturday in August, we will be able to fund at least four such boxes. The photograph shows

two of our Rotarians with a Shelter Box taken at our collection.

New members needed Rotary Chandlers Ford is looking for new members both male and female. The enormous sense of achievement you’ll experience doing something really worthwhile will be matched

only by the enormous amount of fun you’ll have! You’ll be working, socialising and networking with like-minded people who have the same interests and aims as you - so teamwork is important. To find out more about the

Club just enter “Chandlers Ford Rotary” in your search engine to go straight to our site. You will see much more about when and where we meet, how we get involved and indeed that we have some enjoyable activities as well as working hard for our community and overseas projects. There is a facility for you

to contact us through our website.
