Jessica Pei-Rarn Huang Westmont, Illinois
Jess joined McKinsey and Company as a business analyst in their Chicago office this year. She has enjoyed her new job, cherishing the opportunity to learn and to explore different sectors of work. She will continue to do the same in the upcoming year. Jess served on the Chicago Regional Selection Committee.
William Grayson Lambert Durham, North Carolina
Grayson married Mary Beth Ward this summer, and they are finding married life even more wonderful than they had expected. In addition to settling into married life, Grayson continues to enjoy law school at Duke. He plans to pursue a career in litigation, and he spent this past summer clerking for two law firms in South Carolina, one in Charleston and one in Columbia. Mary Beth is now in her first year of medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill.
David Lee Newsome Atlanta, Georgia
The biggest news in David’s life right now is his marriage at the end of June to Emily Morgan Rush (Col ‘09). Morgan and David will be living in Atlanta, where he works at McKinsey & Company as a business analyst. David plans to stay in Atlanta for a while before applying to graduate programs.
Maura Kathleen O’Keefe Gaston, North Carolina
Maura is a second year corps member with Teach for America, teaching senior and AP English at Northampton County High School West in Gaston, North Carolina. She also works with Teach for America as a corps member advisor, training incom- ing corps members.
Rohan Kochikar Pai Ann Arbor, Michigan
Rohan finished his first year of law school at the University of Michigan. He spent the summer work- ing as a summer associate at a law firm in Atlanta, Georgia. He is excited about returning to Ann Arbor in the fall for his second year of law school. Rohan is a member of the Alumni Advisory Committee.

Casey is currently a business analyst with McKinsey & Company.
Allison Lorraine Scott Virginia Beach, Virginia
Allison spent the first few months following gradu- ation working in Charlottesville with Abundant Life Ministries as a summer program director. Since then, she has been working as a tutor with students in- volved in Reach the City, a scholarship and academic support program for students from the inner city in the Hampton Roads area. In June, she transitioned into a position with Amerigroup Corporation, a community-focused managed care organization that works to coordinate care for Americans on Medicare and Medicaid. Her position will be in the organization’s Leadership Development Program. Allison was a member of the Tidewater Regional Selection Committee.

Vangel New York, New York
After spending the summer interning for a federal judge in the Southern District of New York, Sophie will begin her second year at Columbia Law School in the fall.
Jennifer Caitlin Swalec Providence, Rhode Island
Jen recently completed her first year in the classics Ph.D. program at Brown University. She also served on the inaugural Rhode Island Regional Selection Committee.
Jia Angeli Carla Tolentino Kyrgyzstan
Jia is in Kyrgyzstan working as an education volunteer with the Peace Corps. It’s a beautiful, strange country. Her service began with the govern- ment being overthrown, so the next two years will doubtlessly be exciting.
Patrick Donnelly Tyler Chicago, Illinois
Patrick recently completed his first year of medical school at Columbia University. In his first year, he helped organize a ceremony to honor those who donated their bodies for dissection at medical school and their families. It was the first time in the medical school’s history that the families had been invited.
Andrew Donald van der Vaart Charlottesville, Virginia
Andrew currently works for U.Va. CARE (Center for Addiction Research and Education) as a research assistant in Dr. Ming Li’s neurobiology and genetics lab. Outside of work hours he is recording an electro- pop album under the band name “Hey Humans.”
Sarah Mitchell Yates Washington, D.C.
Sarah spent the past year working for Senator Sheldon Whitehouse as a legislative correspondent in Washington, D.C.
Juana Yunis Bogotá, Colombia
After graduation, Juana moved to Villavicencio, a province of Meta in southeastern Colombia, and worked for nine months for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on a com- munity strengthening and youth protection project in two internally displaced population slums. She moved back to Bogotá to be closer to her family and is working for the Catholic Church’s Social Pastoral Branch, which does social and peace building work, research, and plays a key role in working with com- munities living amidst armed conflict. She is part of a research team that is investigating the dynamics of the armed conflict in three regions of Colombia and the possibilities of holding humanitarian dialogues there.
