The Asbestos Hazard emergency Response Act (AHERA) requires all schools to complete stringent in- spections for asbestos and to develop a management plan for all asbestos-containing building materials. As of 1998, all asbestos containing building material (ACBM) has been removed from accessible areas in Bedford School District schools/buildings. An accred- ited asbestos inspector, as required by AHERA, in- spects all of the Bedford School District facilities every three (3) years.
Management plans are then developed for each facility detailing the findings of the inspection in compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency’s AHERA Management Plan is available for your review at the SAU #25 office.
