A Marathon By Moonlight On Sat 25 Sep, Cardiff’s streets will be lit up by a procession of walkers swarming the
centre in aid of Cancer Research UK’s marathon fundraiser Shine. This newly established event is open to both men and women over the age of 13 and offers the opportunity to take part in a lesser 13.1 mile route if the 26.2 walk is too intimidating for some. Shine’s night- time walking marathon hopes to raise over £1 million for cancer research while allowing participants the option to choose which area of cancer they would like to support. It is because of events such as this that Cancer Research UK has been able to spend nearly £4 million on research, trials and hospital support in Wales alone. Evidently, public support is crucial to their tremendous efforts in shining a light on a subject which affects us all.

Project/Ten pitches itself in the Bay
Pop-up gallery project/ten is on the move, and this month the mobile media showcase will be settling in the Wales Millennium Centre. A curated selection of work will be on display for six months, with fresh pieces of art regularly re-hung and a major update expected after three months of the exhibition being open. project/ten includes artwork from Francesca Seeley, a Cardiff-based artist whose work focuses on abstracts and structure and also the Aberystwyth- born Seren Jones whose style has recently snatched attention on the London art scene. An especially exciting addition to the collection is that site-specific work has been commissioned for the Ffresh lounge in the Wales Millennium Centre by Royal College Of Art graduate, Carwyn Evans. Incredible news for the still young project/ten as it continues its journey through the Welsh arts scene. All work will be for sale.

BOTB Offers Winners
Stadium Slot CLIC Battle of the Bands 2010 will be putting on a show with a difference at this years’ Skills Cymru event. Now in their sec- ond year of running the competi- tion, CLIC is going all out to give struggling artists a professional boost. Due to take place at the Millennium Stadium in Septem- ber, a whopping 20,000 people are expected to turn up to Wales’ biggest careers and skills event. The BOTB finalists will perform in front of a panel of top industry experts, and the chosen winners will be given a 20-min- ute set on the main pitch of the stadium in front of hundreds of people. However, the satisfaction of a CLIC BOTB victory is not all the winning act will attain. In the spirit of all things careers, the CLIC BOTB champions will receive studio time in a profes- sional recording studio, a CD and MP3 demo of their work complete with a press release, a professionally shot music video, and, along with a whole range of other kick-start goodies, they will be given gig slots at CLIC events throughout the year. Not bad at all.
