www.SanTanSun.com ‘Craft beer haven’ launching
The Hungry Monk restaurant is the newest concept of Jim Lolli and his wife, Carol, as they rebrand the former Buffalo Wings & Rings and launch a new eatery Sept. 1 that will focus on craft beer and food. It’s being billed as “family friendly where great food, sports and craft beer collide.” “The Hungry Monk will be the same family- owned establishment and the same great chicken dishes, but we expanded the menu to include ‘healthier’ alternatives,” Lolli says. “The new restaurant gives local residents another reason to indulge in Chandler, which is quickly becoming a hot spot for beer enthusiasts.”
It was that devotion to craft beers that inspired Lolli to switch the theme of the restaurant from a beer-and-wings sports bar to a craft beer haven. Each day the Hungry Monk’s selection of craft beers is listed on a chalkboard behind the recently
expanded bar, including favorites like Dead Guy Ale, Arrogant Bastard Ale and Two Hearted American IPA, or India Pale Ale, that Lolli says is known for its robust and complex flavor.
“We are a huge IPA house … typically offering anywhere between four and seven IPA’s at any one time,” he explains. “We love ‘big’ beers at the Hungry Monk; we currently feature four beers with a 10 percent ABV or better.”
According to Lolli, the Hungry Monk will specialize in beers from local microbrewers, including SanTan Brewing Company, Four Peaks, Sun Up Brewing Company and Oak Creek Brewing Company. Coming soon is the “Secrets of the Monk,” a selection of brews for the most avid craft beer lovers.
Besides a wide selection of craft beers on tap, the new Hungry Monk will continue to offer sports
