I believe every tattoo should be unique to the person getting it.

just a small band logo on my right forearm, one I sometimes regret now. Six years later I have 12 tattoos, most of which are large, custom piec- es. I don’t believe in asking a tattoo- ist to tattoo another person’s work on me so I’ve always had my tattoo designed and tattooed by the one person; the tattoo process is always much more comfortable if you’re with the one tattoo artist, from the basic idea to having the finished piece, in my experience anyway. I believe every tattoo should be unique to the person getting it.

I favour traditional tattoo work to the more ‘new school’ designs, how- ever a lot of my pieces sit somewhere between the two. A running theme for me is roses; I have 13 traditional style roses tattooed on various parts of my body so far. Although it would be hard to choose a favourite, it would be either my half sleeve (roses and butterflies) or my left thigh (a sailor lady with a large rose, very traditional and pretty), both done by Rachel McCarthy at Modern Body Art in Birmingham, or my most re- cent tattoo which is a pirate inspired tattoo on my feet, done at the Liver- pool Convention by Nick Baldwin.
