MY I-ON STYLE | 47 A

s senior creative director at the recently revamped Sassoon Salon in Princes Square, London-born Sharz Din

has spent 20 years in the Glasgow salon. Along with meeting and working with a great mix of people, he cites being able to blend creativity with business as one of the perks of his role.

When he’s not creating a cut for one of his clients – his client list featuring everyone from celebrities to students – he can be found travelling the globe on runway duty as a valued member of Sassoon’s International Shows team.

Here he puts down the scissors to tell i-on how his personal style shapes up.

I’d describe my style as… urban with a tailoring twist.

My favourite place to shop in Glasgow is… Aspecto and Vivienne Westwood.

The person whose style I most admire is… Glasgow’s very own Lynda Lawrence, who co-founded Ichi Ni San in the eighties.

I’m a bit of a… free spirit.

My favourite recent find was… the Vintage Guru store on Byres Road.

I’ve got a thing about… trainers and cars.

My best bargain ever was… a Gianfranco Ferre suit, given to me after a commercial.

The trend I’m definitely not buying into is… harem pants.

If money were no object I’d buy… simply time with friends and family.

When it comes to style I think it is important to… be individual but always fashion for wear.

The most ridiculous thing I have ever had to wear… cowboy chaps (don’t ask!) I don’t really like… white socks and fake tan. My big fashion no-no is… hair tattoos.

My fashion tip for 2010 is… expand your haircut with a great colour. Hair is the ultimate fashion accessory.
