Ronald McDonald Comes to Pelham’s Kids
by Robyn Hatch
Ronald McDonald came to the Pelham Library recently with his “Dive into Discovery” show, bringing the full house of kids into the depths of the library to find hidden treasures. The kids couldn’t have been happier to see Ronald McDonald in his big red shoes and bright yellow pants, and he laughed, joked, and interacted with them all.

Becht had been principal at Windham Middle School for several years, while Moulis held the job of assistant principal at that same school. The temporary assignments were made after newly appointed Center School principal Cherrie Fulton was first placed on administrative leave, then later, after the cancellation of a public hearing on that decision, allegedly, resigned from the job. Fulton had previously been assistant principal at Center School for a period of one year. Turns out, however, that
Becht’s and Moulis’ temporary assignments were not temporary at all. On August 10, during a School Board meeting, Bass announced that

Becht was being given the job of Center School Principal on a long-term basis. According to Bass, Becht had “offered” to leave the middle school and become principal at the elementary school about the same time that Fulton was relieved of her duties. “I’m very pleased to have one of our great principals take the job,” Bass said of Becht. It was not necessary for School Board members to approve Bass’ decision, as she was not receiving a promotion within the school district, but merely a transfer to another school. In the case of Moulis, however, School Board members did need to give a nod of approval, since he was being promoted from assistant principal to principal. Board members voted 4 to 0 to approve the promotion. Voting in the affirmative were Chairman Bruce Anderson, Vice Chairman Ed Gallagher, and Board members Jeff Bostic and Michelle Farrell. Newly appointed Board member John Hollinger did not attend the August 10 meeting.
Bass said that he thinks Windham Middle
School “will be in great hands” with Moulis at the helm. Gallagher commented that Becht has been “a great mentor to Dan [Moulis]” during the years they both worked as administrators at Windham Middle School. “Dan is a very strong leader,” Gallagher said. On a “temporary” basis, Brenda Morrow
was hired on a per-diem agreement to serve as assistant principal at Windham Middle School. Bass said he is looking for someone to take the job on a permanent basis, but is very pleased that
Morrow will be filling in during the interim. Morrow has worked in education for the past 15
years. She has been employed by the Windham School District for the past seven years. She said she earned her Master’s Degree in Leadership. “I look forward to helping out this school year,” she told School Board members.
Moulis expressed his appreciation to the administration for giving him the opportunity to assume the leadership role at Windham Middle School. Moulis described himself “as a good listener, who is capable of making tough decisions.” “Windham Middle School will not remain stagnant” under his direction, Moulis claimed. “Windham is an excellent school district, with exceptional students, wonderful parents, and a great staff,” he added. Looking forward, Moulis said he has already worked up a three-year plan for Windham Middle School. “I am really looking forward to this opportunity,” Moulis said. “I sincerely believe that the Windham School District is one of the best in the State.”
Also, during the same meeting, Fulton’s letter of resignation was read and accepted. Bass expressed appreciation to Fulton for the time she worked in the Windham School District. Fulton was said to be considering a job teaching second grade in a school outside Windham. Bass said that a “Meet and Greet” to introduce the new administrators will be held at Windham Middle School on Tuesday, August 24, beginning at 7 p.m.
Alert Neighbor Witnesses Burglary in Progress
submitted by Pelham Police Department On August 16 at approximately 12:18 p.m.,

Pelham police received a call from a neighbor on Beacon Hill Road who observed two individuals burglarizing the residence across the street from him. The neighbor stated that he observed a male and a female walking in the front and side yard of the residence. The male and female removed a window-style air conditioning unit from a front window. The female then gained access to the residence by climbing through the open window. The neighbor stated that the female was in the residence for less than a minute and was seen leaving the residence with a black backpack. The male and female fled
the area in a silver Chevy Equinox with New Hampshire plates. The neighbor was able to record the vehicle’s license plate number and gave it to arriving officers. A broadcast to all area police agencies was issued with the suspect vehicle’s description and plate number. Pelham Police Officer James Locke observed the suspect vehicle on Route 38. Officer Locke stopped the suspect vehicle on Old Gage Hill Road by Ledge Road. The occupants of the suspect vehicle were
positively identified as the individuals who committed the burglary. The suspects were identified as Elizabeth Duffy, 20, of Natick, MA, and Steven Rogers, 20, of Pelham. The stolen items were recovered from inside the vehicle. Duffy and Rogers gave been charged with Burglary and were scheduled for arraignment in Salem District Court on August 17.

submitted by Frank Sullivan There were 35 children who came to Patrick and Gabrielle Minuti’s birthday party, but instead of bringing them gifts, they brought checks totaling $360 for the Pelham Good Neighbor Fund and for St. Patrick Food Pantry at the request of Yvette and Sean Minuti. Both organizations would like to thank Patrick and Gabrielle for sacrificing their birthday gifts and their friends for their donations so that our less-fortunate residents in Pelham will be able to receive help during these difficult times.
