Little Scholars Daycare Hosts Flea Market
by Robyn Hatch Little Scholars Daycare, located at 1 Sand Hill Road, Salem, as part of Granite State Baptist Church, recently held a huge flea market to help to bring in money for a security system for the school, with the hopes that by earning the money to pay for it, it will be better appreciated. Little Scholars Daycare is licensed to take care of up to 80
youngsters from Infants to pre-school and kindergarten, with the understanding that bringing up children in today’s world can be a very difficult job. With that in mind, the staff works hard to create a safe, nurturing, and fun environment that offers parents peace of mind and surrounds them with love, attention, and encouragement. In the Infant Nursery, the child will receive special care. At this
age, a warm, loving environment is the key to a sense of security. The teaching program for two-year-olds begins with music, shapes, and colors in an active format that keeps their attention. Three- year-old children receive a well-rounded, challenging teaching and learning program that involves phonics, the Bible, numbers, colors, music, and health. Age three is an especially important time to start learning social skills and self-help skills alike. Building on these skills, the pre-school and kindergarten program strives to provide academic instruction using many different activities and experiences in order to make learning fun. Check out the daycare, and pay attention to this church. The trip will be well worth the effort.

by Robyn Hatch The Summer Reading Program at the Kelley Library ended with a “big splash” with the magic show by the Steelgraves. After a quick snack of donuts and fruit, the children packed into a room to watch and participate in the friendly and fun show by the Steelgraves. With bright colors, water tricks, birds, and a bunny, laughter and excitement were everywhere. Meet Markus and Angelique Steelgrave, Maine’s multi-award- winning magical duo. Markus (well-known as “Almodarr”) has over 38 years of experience, having been a professional entertainer since he literally ran away with the circus in his teens. Angelique, former
owner of the popular Krackerjack Theatre Co., is an accomplished children’s performer and fun-to-watch “magician’s assistant.” As full-time professionals, their job is to bring you the best magical experience possible, going above and beyond to create laughter, amazement, and joy for the children in the audience. For the 250 children who completed their reading goals, 16 beautiful baskets (valued over $100 each) were awarded and tickets to Canobie were also donated as prizes. Prizes were also donated by the Chocolate Moose and independent vendors. Children left full of excitement and a willingness to read some
