Zach Stadium: The Sign Says it All
by Doug Robinson Covered in gold, green, and red star stickers, the sign
that says “You are a star” welcomes all those who visit and volunteer their time to create a “field of dreams” for Zach Tompkins. Many community organizations, professionals, town officials, and volunteers have come together, driving the project of building a football field in Zach’s honor and memory without tax dollars. “We must remember how Zachary was a very unselfish young man who would want the best for his community and those that he also interacted with. In his case, whether it was his teammates or other students at his school, or just a community adventure, his unselfishness has been the passion and the driving force of everyone involved in the field development,” stated project helper Len Lathrop. “While the Hudson-Litchfield Bears will play there from

July to November and the Hudson Baseball teams will also be playing in the spring, this field, when completed, will offer many opportunities for the residents of Hudson.” Over the past week, volunteers received permission to burn the cut brush and continue with the clean-up process of the 10 acres of land located on Industrial Drive. As the trees have been cut to clear the way for the land to be eventually developed, flames from the three burn piles illuminated the skies of Hudson. Volunteers worked late into the night, donating their time and their talents for Zach.

Recently, with the cooperation and support of the School Administration as well as the School Board, a new Maintenance facility was built on the Alvirne High School property. “This is a great building and we
