Bangladeshi bank now in UK


Prime Bank’s UK subsidiary PBL Exchange has started operating in London, Birmingham and Manchester. The aim, the Bangladeshi bank says, is to extend facilities for sending money to Bangladesh with ‘speed, safety and trust’. PBL Exchange is FSA regis- tered and in addition to the remittance of money it can advise on the purchase and encashment of government bonds, investing in shares on the Bangladesh Stock Exchange, getting loans for building houses or buying flats and many other areas


Prime Bank was established in 1995 and is now one of the top ranking banks in the private sector in Bangladesh.


In the inaugural ceremony at Café Naz, Brick Lane Azam J Chowdhury Chairman of Prime Bank Ltd addressed the distinguished gathering of commu- nity leaders and press. He firstly lauded the success of the British Bangladeshis in this country. He himself is from Kulaura, Sylhet and looks for every

opportunity to serve his community in any way. He said that this is just a foot- hold start; it will eventually grow into a full-fledged bank and go global. He urged all to invest in Bangladesh – be it setting up an industry or buying land or flat – where Prime Bank will offer full assistance. He gave special thanks to Abdul Muhaimin Miah and Muqim Ahmed, both BBCC Directors for their singular role in the opening of PBL
