About Clare: Clare has over 17 years of experience as a professional actress, instructor, and mentor. As a McCoy High School graduate, Clare has grown to appreciate and recognize her roots in Medicine Hat. After representing Medicine Hat at the Miss Teen Canada Pageant in 1990, Clare headed east to embark on a modeling career. It did not take long before she realized her true passion - acting. On the west coast, specifically Vancouver, Clare developed and refined her career as an actress and coach. She has worked extensively in film, television and theatre. selected big screen and small screen credits consist of roles in The X-Files, The Outer Limits, Poltergeist, A Cooler Climate, Millennium, Beggars and Choosers, The John Denver Story, Identity Theft, The 13th Warrior, numerous commercials, and more. The Merchant of Venice, Romeo and Juliet, Little Women, The Crucible, Five Women Wearing the same dress, Dangerous Liaisons, Problem Child and Marion Bridge are just a few of Clare’s stage credits. She has also produced and directed over 23 theatre productions and recently was involved in leading a collective creative project for he Medicine Hat College. In May 2009, two of Clare’s long time acting students were honored at the Alberta Film and Television Awards: Best Alberta Actress and Best Alberta Actor (for the 2nd year in a row). Clare has prepared acting students for successful admission into theatre schools, and connected top agents with many of her students ready to leap onto the professional world of acting. In January 2011 Clare and The Hometown Acting Studio will be presenting the hit musical RENT!


Little Movers Age 3 - 4


Little Movers is the perfect class for 3 to 5 year old actors who love to move. These “little movers” will learn to express themselves physically, mentally, socially and musically all while learning about acting. Must be accompanied by an adult.


Little Actors Age 5 & 6


Little actors is designed for ages 5 & 6 and creatively introduces children to the craft of acting. The “little actor” will explore acting through story telling, animal play,


fairy tales, improvisation, feelings, as well as voice and


movement. It is a class packed full of energy, laughter and ACTING fun! Stories Come Alive


Age 4 - 6


These young actors will have a fantastic time making story books come alive! The class will bring many classic and not so classic tales to the stage with costumes, sets, and lines!! This acting class is just like play time but better! These youngsters will learn acting games, warm ups, acting techniques and more!


Acting for Kids Age 6 - 8


Acting skills are not the only thing that will be learned in this wonderful class. Children are exposed to a number of issues growing up and drama is a fantastic way to learn about life! This class will take the actors through many of the emotions and situations we all go through growing up. From bullies to Disneyland, many fun and even difficult situations will be explored through storytelling and acting!


Hollywood Hip Hop & Dance Age 8+


This class teaches students hip hop and other dances Hollywood style! Learn fun routines featured in movies like Camp Rock, HSM, and popular music videos in this fun and exciting class. This is not exactly a dance class, it is a dance class film and TV style. No pressure...just move! This class will be offered in six week blocks...every six weeks a new dance is taught.


Rotary Festival Preparation Age 8+


Rotary Festival Medicine Hat is an important event! Show up prepared and polished with coaching from Clare in musical theatre and more. These sessions will be scheduled according to individual and group needs. Please reserve your spot because space is very limited. An audition may be required. Clare is committed to collaborating with other drama teachers, vocal coaches, and, of course parents, in the process of preparing an individual for the best performance they can give.


Private Instruction All Ages


Specialized instruction for actors, singers, dancers, business professionals, and more. Time slots available in half hour and one hour segments. Space is limited and last minute sessions may be booked for tapings and auditions.


Musical Theatre Ages 7 +


This class is by audition only and will be scheduled around the needs of the successful applicants. Please call the office for more information.


Introduces the actor to the skills needed to act in film & television. Students will be exposed to current film & TV scripts specifically chosen for them.The age range of this class may vary as all ages may work together.

Age 7 & 8


7 & 8 year olds will love exploring the fundamentals of acting in this fun, exciting and entertaining class. Learn acting skills, rehearsal techniques, memorization, improvisation and performance skills. Includes fun warm ups, improvs, voice, movement and sense memory work.


ACT I / II / III Age 9 -11


This series is a fun and exciting exploration of the acting process through a monologues, scene studies, plays and exercises aimed at loosening up the body and voice, building self-confidence, and unleashing the creative spirit. The ACT III class will also be introduced to film and television acting through out the year. Suitable for all levels: • ACT I - Ages 9 to 11 (60 minute classes) • ACT II - Ages 12 to 14 - (90 minute classes) • ACT III - Ages 15+ (120 minute classes)


Please note that class sizes for the ACT III class will be limited to a maximum of seven students. ACT I and II will be limited to 10 students in each class.
