News Innovative materials Fresh thinking

Heinemann Aircraft Interiors and Benecke-Kaliko AG had new colours and fresh patterns on display at Aircraft Interiors Expo Hamburg 2010. As a leading manufacturer of sophisticated decorative surface materials, Benecke-Kaliko, showcased its wide range of non-textile flooring Flightfloor®

. The company joined forces W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. has launched a new, smaller GORE® RG Coaxial Cable for

aircraft communication and navigation systems that provides significant weight savings without compromising performance. When compared to standard RG coaxial cables, these new cables reduce operating costs because they are as much as 20 per cent lighter with a 15 per cent smaller diameter. With this smaller, lighter profile, GORE®

SKYFLEX® RG Coaxial Cables still meet the stringent electrical

and mechanical requirements of MIL-T-81790 and EN 3475-503. The cables engineered for electrical impedance of 50Ω and 75Ω also exceed the electrical requirements of MIL-C-17G. W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. has also expanded its family of GORE®

Aerospace Materials to include preformed gaskets for multi-face aircraft applications such as hole liners, flange joints, fastener seals, and galley or restroom hardmounts. These lightweight, non-hazardous gaskets ensure continuous protection between flat interfaces, around chamfers, and inside a component’s mounting hole. By isolating dissimilar materials completely, these new gaskets significantly reduce the likelihood of galvanic corrosion, thereby increasing the life of the component. GORE®

SKYFLEX®

Aerospace Materials do not require any curing time, which reduce downtime and facilitates replacement during component maintenance.

PVC-flooring is available for galleys, lavatories, aisles, cargo bays, stairs and steps, and entry areas. It is available in four versions called Flightfloor®

with its sales partner Heinemann Aircraft Interiors at the show. Flightfloor®

L, CLASSIC, PLUS and CF.

These floorings boast high wear- and impact- resistance as well as good cleaning properties and a long service life. Non-skid properties guarantee maximum safety.

Focusing on new colours and patterns, the items exhibited at the show gave Benecke-Kaliko a further opportunity to demonstrate its unique design and grain development concept. As part of its sustainability strategy, the company is presently developing Flightfloor® PVC-free flooring.
