ICG signs contract with Aeromexico
International Communications Group (ICG) has been selected by AeroMexico Airlines to install its NxtLink ICS-120A communications systems which offer flight deck voice and DataLink services over the Iridium satellite network on five of its Boeing 767-200 and 300 series aircraft. The ICG Iridium based systems have been tested and approved by ARINC and SITA and are compliant with the requirements for both AOC and ATS flight deck communications and support ACARS, CPDLC and other FANS1/A
New noise reduction material
The High Performance Foams (HPF) Division of Rogers Corporation has announced the global introduction of a new acoustic sound barrier material for demanding aircraft applications. The new BISCO®
A2 Sound Barrier has been designed to meet challenging aircraft
standards for flammability, smoke density and toxicity and is already approved to the Airbus ABS5708 material specification. BISCO A2 is used to block the transmission of sound and demonstrates excellent performance in low frequency noise reduction. Innovative filler technology allows the A2 material to pass the aircraft radiant panel flame test FAR25.856(a) from aerial densities of 1.0 kg/m2
to 8.2 kg/m2 (0.20 lbs/ft2 to 1.68 lbs/ft2 ).
The BISCO A2 sound barrier is an extremely safe choice for acoustic insulation applications where extreme flame resistance is required. BISCO A2 is available in a light grey colour in a standard width of 1000mm in roll lengths of 5m and 10m.
Keeping an eye on the future
The Hamburg Metropolitan Region marches to the beat of the international aircraft cabin industry. Airbus and Lufthansa Technik work together here in close cooperation with suppliers and research facilities to develop modern cabin fittings and sophisticated technologies. An outstanding infrastructure project is the Center of Applied Aeronautical Research (ZAL). In two test facilities, players from industry and the world of research will network their capabilities,
initiate joint research projects and turn new technologies into innovative products. The emphasis is on cabin concepts and technologies, air conditioning systems, fuselage and system integration, and hydrogen/fuel cell applications. Small and medium-sized businesses will also receive advice, and support will be given to the establishment of cooperative partnerships. For details please contact

messaging. The agreement also covers the associated Configuration Identity Modules (CIM) and Spectralux Avionics Dlink+ all-in-one ACARS system.
ICG holds Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) Parts Manufacturer Authority for the single channel NxtLink 120A and the CIM which means “AeroMexico can be fully confident in the quality, reliability and consistent performance of the ICG NxtLink system,” said Carlos Monsalve, ICG’s Vice President of Air Transport Sales. “In addition, this is a significant milestone for us since it signifies that now ICG has STC’s for its NxtLink line of Iridium products on the B737, B747, B757, B767 and the B777.” “Our evaluation of this system concluded that it gives us the capabilities we require now, and the flexibility to configure for future needs as well. This system will keep our aircraft 100 per cent connected to our Flight Operations Control Center” said Carlos Najera, AeroMexico’s Director of Engineering.
