WAEA 31st Annual Conference & Exhibition

Education


The educational workshops consist of general sessions and break out sessions that will focus on marketing, media and technology and apply to the entire WAEA/APEX membership. The Education Committee (EC) is enthusiastic about involving the association’s knowledgeable and successful members.


Topics that will be addressed include: • Portable Devices: A proliferation of consumer-off-the-shelf (COTS) portable media players are now being offered in IFE. A panel representative of portables suppliers, content service providers and airlines will discuss the issues and trends.


• Social Media: Social marketing is becoming increasingly popular everyday. How can your company send your message to millions via social media? Find out here.


• Avion Awards – Best Achievements in IFE - Be an Award Winning Company! The Avion Awards honor those member companies who have been beyond successful in their field or project. These awards are judged by industry peers and the media. Learn what the judges are looking for so YOUR company can be a winner next.


• Is Selling Internet Access Alone a Sufficient Inflight Broadband Strategy?: An insightful panel of vendors and airlines led by a knowledgeable moderator will allow attendees


to more fully understand the costs and revenue potential of inflight Internet access sales.


• Trends in Advertising: An expert on emerging trends, David Ernst, VP of Advertising Sales – Research & Presentations at Discovery Communications, LLC, will explore the digital and social media trends that are being used inflight. He will also discuss how companies are budgeting for this new technology.


• Media Programming: A panel of airlines and content service providers will have a guided discussion on different views of traditional and new techniques for media scheduling.


• What’s your TC Done for you Lately?: The Technology Committee (TC) will give an update on the progress of standards and other initiatives such as the IFE FAQs and Digital Advertising Standards. Learn what the TC does and how you can become involved.


• Safety Video: It is required on every plane. How do you engage your passengers to pay attention? We examine the video segments from airlines that have productively produced their safety video.
