onvenience products and flexible package sizes are in demand more than ever. This in turn results in reduced batch sizes. It is a key challenge of today’s machine builders to design machines that combine flexible and quick format changes with high cycle rates and low life cycle costs. Micromech Systems and Parker has been supporting food processing equipment and packaging machinery manufacturers for many years. Thanks to the drive technology, mechanical and application specific know-how, together they are the ideal partners to help you meet the mechatronic challenges posed by your customers. They can help to reduce design time. improve your time-to-market. help you make faster changeovers and increase output and plant efficiency. For more information call 01376 333333 or visit

SICK displacement sensor delivers precision
measurement SICK UK has launched a new series of displacement sensors to deliver precise high- speed laser measurement of position, height and thickness. The OD Precision and OD Value sensors meet maximum accuracy and speed demands when measuring objects in the micron range. The OD series is suitable for a wide range of applications and is ideal for use in the electronics, automotive and packaging industries, as well as in robotics. The sensors can be used to monitor the presence and position of objects as well as measuring profiles, diameters and width. The innovative range can detect the slightest unevenness and the smallest deviation or indentation, making it ideal for use in quality inspection, where micron-accurate detection capability matters, such as in-line quality inspection, process regulation or product classification. The OD Precision and OD Value can also be used to accurately determine the thickness of glass, where only a single sensor head is required. The OD series is IP67 protected and incredibly easy- to-use, the sensor is taught via SICK’s intuitive teach-in interface. For more information call 01727 831121 or visit
