Girls pre-season tryout clinic

MAC junior basketball hosts a youth girls pre-season tryout clinic Sunday, Sept. 19 from 6-8 p.m. This new clinic is taught by member Coach Edniesha Curry, who works on basketball fundamentals of dribble, passing, shooting and foot work in preparation for up coming junior basket- ball tryouts. The clinic is open to girls in grades four through eight. The cost of the clinic is $20.

Curry joins the MAC family with an abundance of basketball knowledge. She began her college career as an All-Big Sky Conference and freshman All-American point guard at Cal State Northridge, then transferred and played for the 2002 Women’s National Invitation Tournament champion Oregon Ducks. After graduating, Curry played in the WNBA for the Los Angeles Sparks and Phoenix Mercury, and eight years in Europe.

Since retiring from professional basket- ball, Curry has spent a lot of time with youth, helping them develop their skills and become better basketball players. She is currently the head girls varsity coach at Westview High School. Curry has also coached at the AAU level with Team Concept in the Northwest, worked with many athletes one-on-one, and has run many youth camps and clinics. The cost is $20 per person.
