INTRODUCTION NORWICH BODY ART FESTIVAL 2010
After a first year that succeeded all our expectations, left unforgettable images on our retinas and finally took a few years off of our liver’s sell by date, the Norwich Body Art Festival is back for its second year. For one weekend of the year only, Norwich transforms its image of Delia-worshipping, bread-making, wholesome domesti-ghouls and slips into something just a little less comfortable… and this year, the gloves are off as we aim to better what’s been before. To start things off, like many two year olds, we’ve grown recently. Not content with giving you two halls and an ancient cloisters to roam around in, we’ve added a mammoth marquee to the hall to house even more traders and artists, plus a second bar and extra stage. We were brimming over with talent last year, but this year entreat you to join us to witness even more tattoo artists, including two traditional artists, plus the living legend, Xed le Head from Divine Canvas, who’s kindly let us into his coveted mind for

this supplement. There’s also some returning favourites from last year’s artists, traders and entertainers, with some new names to fall in love with – not least the spectacular Transmutants, who will own the space on the day with their dazzling performances. Luring the public a little closer to our den of iniquity, the graffiti jam will be moved out the front, giving it the mass audience that the works of art deserve. As we roll dangerously close to print time on this here tome, we invite you to take us by the hand and walk with us into the alternative world of body art… you’ll never want to leave.
