The Pittsylvania County Outlaws 13u baseball team took first place at the Freedom Classic Nations Tournament held on July 3 and 4 in Eden, NC. After a slow start on Saturday, losing the first ball game, the Outlaws went unbeaten for the rest of the Tournament. The Outlaws made it to the championship game to face the Carolina Knights, from Pleasant Grove, NC. The Knights had beaten the Outlaws in their first two meetings including the opening game for the Freedom Classic. This time the Outlaws were able to pull off the win for the championship beating the Knights 13-2 and finishing 3-1 for the weekend. The Outlaws started their season with a trip to Myrtle Beach, SC on May 22

and 23 to play at the Ripken Experience. They finished a respectful fourth place going 1-2 among eight teams that came from NC, SC, GA, TN, and VA. All of the ball fields at this complex were modeled after historic ball parks yet they were built to current Major League Specifications. This was an experience the Outlaws will not soon forget. The next tournament the Outlaws participated in was the USSSA 13u Open State tournament that was held in Covington, VA on May 29 and 30. They were able to put together a 5-1 record and finish in third place out of 16 teams. Thomasville, NC was the next stop for the Outlaws for the Pig City Open Nations

Tournament. After a couple of severe storms and a change of ball fields to Lexington, NC on Saturday the Outlaws were able to overcome numerous obstacles and finished with a 2-2 record and recording another fourth place finish. The Pittsylvania County Outlaws would not be able to travel and compete if it

were not for the support that they receive from their sponsors. We would like to take this opportunity to thank J&J Truck Sales, Sellers Insurance, Calloway Construction, R.G. Jones, Jr. and Son Excavating, The Sign Center, The Trophy Center, Heath Landscaping, Fire Safe, Haymes Brothers Construction, and The Daly Seven Inc. While the parents are responsible for the travel expenses the support from our sponsors has provided the Outlaws a chance to compete in many different locations giving the young men a chance to compete against some extraordinary talent.
