Occupancy Index: Market Share - Occupancy 2009 vs. 2008


• The Breckenridge Resort Chamber uses a percentage of occupancy formula to determine market share levels compared to several markets. This graph illustrates when Breckenridge gained or lost market share.


• In the calendar year 2009, Breckenridge gained 3 points of occupancy market share to 2008. • Notablesuccessful months were July (+12.1), February (+4.5), March (+2.6), December 2009 (+2.2) and January (+2.4).


• Notable months of lost market share included April (-20.9), September (-7.1) and November (-4.7). In April, Breckenridge gave up less rate than our competitors. November was a poor early opening for snow. Despite the success of Oktoberfest; the remainder of September failed to exceed 2008.

2009 index = Breckenridge 2009 occupancy / MTRIP Colo 2009 occupancy * 100. 2008 index = Breckenridge 2008 occupancy / MTRIP Colo 2008 occupancy * 100. An index of 100 means Breckenridge had the same occupancy as MTRIP Colorado Universe. An index of greater than 100 means Breckenridge had a higher occupancy than MTRIP Colo Universe. An index of less than 100 means Breckenridge had a lower occupancy than MTRIP Colo Universe.
