Sailaway and relax
For a completely different aspect of the area nothing can beat hiring a boat and exploring the Helford River as you wish.
Sailaway at St. Anthony have diesel launches suitable for larger families or for fishing further out in Falmouth Bay, and outboard motorboats better for the beautiful upper reaches or for lazing in one of the coves.
Sailors will enjoy our
Drascombe Longboat cruisers, Wayfarers, Lasers and the Toppers.
The boats have full safety equipment and buoyancy aids. Instruction is given on the motorboats; only competent sailors may take the sailing boats, though sailing tuition is also available.
From novice to sailor, from family to fisherman, whether you hire for a couple of hours or a full week, you will be enchanted by the magic of the river.
As Ratty said ... 'There is nothing, absolutely nothing half so much worth doing as just messing about in boats
A great place to unwind
What better place is there to unwind and watch the world go by on water than the bank of the Helford River?
It’s here that you’ll find the Shipwright Arms, perfectly nestled on the riverside with a fantastic luxury terrace for its visitors to enjoy.
The Shipwright has an intriguing background of times past, as a regular haunt for smugglers in the times of piracy.
These days, this cosy character retreat is popular with both locals and tourists alike.
This is not only down to its idyllic location, but also because of the hospitable welcome provided by the friendly staff.
The food on offer is good traditional ‘pub grub’ which include delicious crab sandwiches, and there are quality local ales stocked amongst a variety of other beverages on offer.
There are summer barbecue evenings every night, rain or shine, where food on offer includes various fillet and T-bone steaks, crab, lobster and monkfish.

Trengilly Wartha is an independent free house run by the owners, Will and Lisa Lea and their loyal team of staff.
In the real tradition of inn keeping, Trengilly Wartha is many things to many people – a place for a quick snack and a pint, for family outings – for all the local gossip, for a good restaurant meal or for a comfortable bed and hospitality for holidaymakers and business people alike.
It is sometimes lively, often informal, but always friendly and courteous.
Trengilly Wartha Inn prides itself on being able to cater for all.
If it’s an informal gathering you
would like to book, they have a conservatory which can fit up to thirty people. If you are after more of a formal dining experience with waitress service they can offer you that to.
There is a bistro which can cater for sixteen or a function room which can fit up to thirty-two.
The kitchen is run under the personal direction of Nick Tyler, who has been working there for over 20 years and has recently won an Unsung Hero Award for his dedication.
Attention to detail, innovation and respect for tradition are applied equally to the handling of light snacks and special gourmet dinner nights.
The terms ‘fresh local produce’ and ‘homemade’ have been much abused, but there they are used with total honesty.
They have recently come second for the ‘Best Cooked Breakfast; in the whole of the UK.
