Holstein UK introduced the Master Breeder Award in 2001 and it recognises those

breeders whose skill and dedication has set their herds apart from the rest. Why not apply yourself? Here are the qualifi cation standards

T

he points awarded will be based on home- bred pedigree animals, both male and female, which are registered with the Society. Supplementary A registered animals will not be eligible. The breeder of an animal is the owner at its date of birth. In the case of jointly owned animals, points earned are determined by the animals’ prefi x. Only one Master Breeder award can be gained every 10 years.

Qualifying Structure

Qualifying animals must appear on the annual milk records report or any monthly milk records statement. All relevant individual cow record cards must be submitted with these reports. This will enable any herds that have unfortu- nately been lost to Foot and Mouth to qualify.

The award will be based on the number of cows and heifers that have completed one lac- tation in the milking herd in any one year. An average of four points will be required for each animal to reach the Master Breeder standard.

The minimum number of points required would be 150.

Example: 50 cows = 200 points required, 100 cows= 400 points required, 150 cows= 600 points required.
