James Pickford of Picston Holsteins recently organised a 6-a-side football tournament between Staffordshire, Shropshire, Western and Derbyshire Clubs held at fantastic setting of Moddershall Cricket Club. Seven teams took part all, assuming the names of countries playing in the World Cup. A great evening was had by all and there were even WAGS present. The final saw England take on Argentina (if only – Ed) and in true English style the result came down to penalties. The score was one the English team in South Africa was unable to emulate, with victory going to England (Staffordshire) and runner up spot to Argentina (Shropshire). Well done to James for the vision to set up the event, which may well become annual, and also to the sponsors Advanced Nutrition.

COGENT LADIES SHOW A CLEAN PAIR OF HEELS

For the first time, Cogent’s head office ladies pulled together and completed a 5k run for the Cancer Research campaign’s ‘Race for Life’ in Chester on 13 June. The nine-strong team flew round the course and finished with a remarkable team average of 36 minutes, which, considering one team member was dressed in a cow outfit, was particularly impressive. The team consisted of ladies working in Sales, Marketing and Accounts and they collected an impressive £1,500 and encourage any char- itable customers to further contribute to the cause. Their sponsorship money was kind- ly matched by the Westminster Foundation. Mark Evington, Cogent’s Managing Director com- mented, “I am very proud of the team’s achieve- ments and I am very pleased that they have sup- ported such a great cause. The funds that they have collected are a credit to them and their hours of training have most definitely paid off”.
