Community City funding available for festivals, special events

Applications from nonprofi t organizations wanting funding support for hosting special events in the community are being accepted by the City’s Special Events Sponsorship Program. The deadline to apply is Wed., Sept. 8.

Each year since 2002, the City Council has approved $30,000 in funding to be allocated to organizations that present quality special events in Chandler. Funding is awarded to qualifying events that enhance the community through such areas as cultural and educational enrichment, diversity and heritage, community pride and economic vitality.

“The fun, family-friendly events that have grown from our heritage and diversity make Chandler a great All-America City,” says Mayor Boyd W. Dunn. “Many of the events that take place in Chandler receive support through this program which was created by the City Council to encourage groups to host festivals that will bring the community together in celebration. We are very proud of this program, and we appreciate the organizations that participate each year.” Applications are available online at www. chandleraz.gov/special-events.
