Family-friendly comedians at Urban Tea

Family-friendly comedian Keith Ellis performs at the award-winning Urban Tea Loft in downtown Chandler on Sat., July 31. Opening for him at 8 p.m. will be Jodi Weisberg and Tom Grayson.

Ellis, who has a background in acting, began his comedy career six years ago on a bet when a friend dared him to take the stage at a club they attended. After the wager, Ellis won second place and began doing humor.

Ellis’s comedy style is observational humor, and combined with his animated characterizations, he is often likened to Bill Cosby. He provides insights on growing up, life in Arizona and his travel adventures. With a mission to inspire, motivate, and educate, Ellis keeps his comedy clean.

“Clean is the new dirty,” says Ellis. “I’d rather see a whole family sitting there laughing together than make parents have to fi nd a babysitter to come to my show.” The Urban Tea Loft, which is proving itself to be a venue for more than teas and cuisine, will offer specials such as $6 appetizers, $5 teatinis and $5 Urban Palmers the night of the show.

Tickets for the show are $10 general admission with a one-drink minimum. To purchase advance tickets, visit www.cleancomedyclub.com. To learn more about Ellis, visit www.kwellis.com. The Urban Tea Loft is located at 11 W. Boston St. in Chandler. For more information, visit www.urbantealoft.com.
