Student Services (contd.)
Before you arrive
UK Immigration If you are not a national of a European Economic Area – EEA – country or Switzerland and wish to enter the UK as a student, you will need documents to confirm unconditional acceptance on a full-time study programme. In addition, you must have £800 per month for living on an account under your name for the first year of studies. In most cases, you must obtain UK Student Visa / Entry Clearance before you travel. Check with a British Embassy / High Commission or on the internet at
www.ukvisas.gov.uk. Check your requirements as early as you can - processes can take some time.
If you need to confirm that you have been accepted for a full-time course of study, you should use the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies letter. With this letter we will also send you our guide on Applying for UK Entry Clearance.
Accommodation
You must pre-arrange accommodation for at least your first month, before you arrive. We will send you information on how to book with your acceptance letter. More information see pages 81-84.
Insurance
We advise you to arrange personal, property, travel and medical insurance before you come to the UK. You will receive details of insurance services offered by our partner Endsleigh Insurance with your acceptance documents.
When you arrive
Airport Transfer/Pick-Up We can arrange a taxi to meet you at Heathrow or Gatwick airport and take you to your accommodation. You will get the booking form with your acceptance documents. Costs: £70 for Heathrow, £90 for Gatwick and £95 for Stansted.
Working
Students from outside the EEA with a Student Visa for more than 6 months can work for up to 20 hours per week during term time, and without limit during College holidays. EU / EEA & Swiss nationals can work without restriction.
