of Chopin’s birth. Turkish pianist Idil Biret is internationally recognised as one of the greatest contemporary interpreters of his music. Her acclaimed complete recording of his solo piano works and those for piano and orchestra have sold well over a million copies and she was recently decorated by the Polish Government in recognition of her achievements in performing and researching Chopin’s music. Her programme for Canterbury includes the popular Polonaise Fantasie, the four Ballades and Etudes Op 25.

Craig and Gerard’s repertoire is influenced by jazz, Irish folk and the dance rhythms of South America, while original works from Germany, Australia and Brazil complete the international feel. Their successful combination of saxophone and guitar has seen them perform over twenty concerts to date, record two discs and broadcast on BBC and RTE. Modern and melodic, unconventional and accessible – these are two of the most exciting artists of their generation. Superb playing guaranteed.
