Brandon Yazdani says the Northland’s sales team will take the time to design proj- ects that are both economical and look great. “Its really cool how when we design some- thing, or I see something designed by our company, how it materializes from paper to a finished product.
“People come to us and say ‘we want to get this done – and then say they don’t know how. We guide them. All of our sales staff are good at designing projects. We draw things out and let the customer visualize the final result; then come up with the specs and do the work properly.” Much of the company’s business comes from word-of-mouth referrals. Neighbours see the work being done and then ask for a similar project. More significantly, Yazdani
says, neighbours see how Northland’s work holds up over the years, maintaining its ap- pearance and quality, and when they see these results, they call to have the work done at their own homes.
Northland will never allow a client un- satisfied, says Ray Faraone, president of En- sureco Insurance Group, which has provided insurance brokerage services to Northland for the past 15 years.
Consumer news journalist Peter Silverman is pictured with Northland Paving founder Bruce Yazdani (left) and Toronto homeowner Rocco Caprarella (right). After Caprarella
was scammed by a local paving company, Silverman put him in touch with Yazdani, whose team completed the job at no charge.
Faraone says Northland is one of En-
sureco’s best clients in part because the work quality is so high there are rarely any problems, and when they occur, Northland will make good, without question. “North- land has good office people, great manage- ment, and they are a pleasure to do business with.”
Faraone has seen situations where Northland repairs work which isn’t its re-
sponsibility. In fact, the company is cur- rently running a “Driveway Disaster” com- petition on its website where it will select the “winning” disaster for a complete makeover – at no charge to the homeowner. There is an extra benefit to this quality
standard. Faraone says Northland qualifies for lower insurance premiums – resulting in reduced business costs and the ability to be even more competitive in the marketplace. Brandon Yazdani says he is looking for- ward to expanding the business while main- taining its core values. “I’d like to start an asphalt plant in the future, but who knows where we’ll grow,” he said. The business has started offering underground services as part of its package, allowing for complete support in drainage and exterior construc- tion.

Though Northland Paving has grown exponentially, it remains a family-oriented local business.
A row of bobcats lines Northland Paving's main site. Founders Bruce and Gillian Yazdani pride themselves in offering efficient, quality service. Their son Brandon now carries on the tradition.
