Pancake powered breakfast

Breakfast, it’s the most important meal of the day for sure. Why do we call it breakfast? Well it’s because we are ”breaking the fast”. During the night your body has been starved of food for around 8 hours or so and consequently your choice of breakfast is very important in order to get you off to the best possible start to the day. If your choice of breakfast consists of cereal, toast and juice, then you’d be wise to think about starting the day without all that sugar. A breakfast as described contains the equivalent of around 20 teaspoons of sugar, definitely not the best start to the day. As an alternative why not try making some of these Power Pancakes, they’re packed full of protein and slow releasing carbs so helping to keep you going all the way through to lunchtime.

Mix the following ingredients and leave in the fridge overnight:

• 3 whole eggs plus 2 egg whites • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon • 1 chopped up banana

• 4 heaped tablespoons of medium grade oatmeal

• option: add a handful of raisins after mix has been blended

In the morning make your pancakes on a hot plate or in a frying pan with a little olive oil. Cook for 2 minutes each side, the mix should make around 6 pancakes. Top with your favourite spread for a quick power packed, great tasting start to your day!

Hi and welcome to this April edition of the club’s enewsletter. Hope everyone is well and you have all enjoyed a good Easter break.

Spring has eventually sprung so I’m told, British summertime is here and I’m reliably informed that we are definitely in for a Bar-B-Q summer this year, whatever that means? So let’s live in hope. After the winter we’ve experienced we really do deserve a decent bit of sunshine.

Well there is never a dull moment around the club, there always seems to be something going on or something new to enjoy.

Some of the planned

improvements we have for the club in the near future include resurfacing the car parking area… installing a new air conditioning system in the gym… introducing Kettlebell training…and we will be continuing with the ongoing programme to upgrade the gym equipment, so look out for some new equipment arriving throughout the year.

Studio news!

I must just say a very big thank you to all of my team here at the club for all their hard work, cooperation and contribution recently. It is very much appreciated, and I must emphasise the word “team” as it really is very much a team effort here at Westside. Thanks also to all of our club members for the continued support and encouragement we receive, it’s good to know that all our efforts are appreciated; it really does help us to serve you better. We look forward to seeing you all on your next visit to the club. Until then, keep the faith and keep on training!

Duncan Tomahawk saves the day!

Our new Tomahawk spin bikes are proving extremely popular with the spinning fraternity, everyone loves the quality feel, smooth resistance and the trip computer of the new bikes. It makes the classes so much more fun and enjoyable. The new S series Tomahawk is just a good all-round solid bike which we’re sure will stand up to the rigours of the timetable. Our first choice bike from StarTrac only lasted 2 weeks before it was clearly evident that this was not the bike for us. Everything started falling apart so we quickly decided to return

them to where they once came. I made the call on the Friday to break the news to StarTrac and by the next Wednesday the new Tomahawk bikes were delivered, and so I know we experienced a couple of weeks of frustration, and believe me it was extremely frustrating for us too! We really don’t like unhappy members, but most importantly we’ve now ended up with a really good bike that everyone is happy with. Just like to say thank you to everyone for bearing with us and for all the feedback we received regarding the spinning bikes.
