Van Alstine’s Reining Horse Show Extravaganza 2010


Ken and Dana Van Alstine of Van Alstine Reining Horses will be holding the “Reining Horse Show Extravaganza” on August 13th to 15th this year. For an exciting twist, the show is scheduled for the London Agriplex and arrangements have been made for the use of an 80 x 160 Indoor warm up and 100 x 200 indoor show pens.


has $20,000 in added money and prizes!!! The show features the Spooks Gotta Gun Futurity, The Gun Dealer Derby, and the Hors- es Etc. 2 year old pleasure futuri- ty.


The action begins on Friday night at 7 p.m. with two “PICOVS Show Me The Money” classes added, offering prizes of $200. plus buckles. These classes are open to non- members and designed for “green as grass” to “limited non- pro riders” (with under $1200. in earnings) and will be run concur- rently.


Saturday afternoon speeds up the competition with the Gun Dealer Derby for 4,5, and 6 year old horses competing for NRHA Lawson Bronzes, trophy buck- les, and cash. The Saturday night Karaoke party will include prizes for the most and least tal- ented vocalists, a Beer tent and Exhibitor Pizza Party.


The busy weekend boasts 2 Full slates of NRHA and ORHA classes Saturday and Sunday, with high point trophy buckles and prizes for all categories. This year’s “Spooks Gotta Gun show”


The Pro-Am Tournament runs Saturday night and is also open to non-members. The event features 1 horse, 2 riders, 1 pat- tern and a combined score to determine the winning team. Money and trophy buckles will be awarded to the winners. Sunday afternoon changes things up with the “Horses Etc. 2 year old western pleasure” class. The future reiners will compete


for trophy buckles and their first pay check.


The show finale will be the “Spooks Gotta Gun 3 year old Reining Futurity”. This compe- tition pits trainers and non-pros against one another as they pilot their young prospects through a reining pattern. Lawson Bronzes, res. trophy buckles, prizes, and cash are up for grabs for placing in the last class of the weekend. The start time for Saturday and Sunday will be 8 am. with the draw for classes being done on Friday night. Late entries will be accepted up to 7:30 Saturday morning and will be added to the end of the class.


Organizers encourage spec- tators to for the weekend, stay at The Radisson (the official show hotel) and cheer on their favorite horse and rider. For more infor- mation about the show, sponsor- ship or stall reservations, call 905- 384-2008.
