Combining Energy Design
with Livability VELUX Model Home 2020 – A Europe-wide Experiment
The Future of Living During this year and the next, VELUX will develop new ways to live and work in a comfortable indoor climate, with natural light, and an ideal level of energy efficiency. To do so, VELUX will work with experts on six building projects located throughout Europe.
With its Model Home 2020 project, VELUX is moving ever closer to its vision of a carbon neutral house which dynamically adapts itself to fit the environment in order to create an optimal indoor climate.
Green Lighthouse Working together with the University of Copenhagen and the city council, VELUX developed the first public carbon neutral building, located in Copenhagen and named ”The Green Lighthouse.” It was introduced as a model building at the World Climate Conference.
The German Concept House The ideal use of resources is primarily an issue in the energy-efficient reno- vation of buildings. For this reason, the project in Germany will be centered around modernizing a detached house. The German Model Home 2020 located in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg will open in 2010, and will be presented at the International Building Exhibition in Hamburg (IBA).
