Becoming a member of California
Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise Alliance is extremely important for vete-
rans of all backgrounds. The opportunities available for disabled veterans in business matchmaking and networking assist their businesses in receiving results that they otherwise would not have. The non-profit Alliance assists disabled veterans to live their dream of being a successful and in- dependent business owner. “Membership with us is easy,” states
Dryden, “As soon as you are designated or certified by the state of California you automatically become a member and are added to our database. Unless opted out, operating with us is free.” The DVBE Al-
liance has a memorandum of understan- ding with the Northern California Mino- rity Supplier Diversity Program and does their best to leverage their diversity issues to build partnerships. Jack Jernigan, a member of the DVBE
board suggests that more women and young people become involved. All vete- rans disabled or not invited to ask ques- tions so that they are guided in the right direction. “There are a lot of women ve- terans out there that we need to bring in fold. There are also a lot of young people who have been in Iraq and Afghanistan
