With a reputation as an esteemed pen brand worldwide, Cross has joined forces with Joe Davies to launch a stunning new collection of quality, affordable writing instruments to the UK independent gift market. The deal originated following a tie up between FranklinCovey and Cross earlier this year. accredited. After a rigorous approval process from the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) regulatory body QAS International, the company was awarded the full certifi cation. St Eval applied to QAS International to recognise the effi ciency of its administration systems. The accreditation demonstrates its dedication to using logical, well-documented management systems, and is something within which they take great pride. Managing director Ian Greaves says: “We’re delighted to have received such an important accreditation and it gives us a benchmark to continually strive to maintain. It also gives customers and suppliers peace of mind that their comments, queries and complaints will be handled in a highly effi cient manner.”

ISO accreditation puts in place a set of procedures that cover all key areas of the business and monitors them to make sure they’re effective. It covers keeping accurate records, checking all outgoing material for irregularities and regularly reviewing processes and the whole quality system for effectiveness. The quality policy is a formal statement that is closely linked to the business, marketing plan and customer needs. The policy is followed by the St Eval Candle Company at all levels and is regularly reviewed. Tel: 01841 540850 www.stevalcandlecompany.co.uk Home & Gift Stand: DP1-38

Portmeirion Group makes statement Following its March announcement of its preliminary results for the year ending 31 December 2009 (which

showed an increase in profi t of a staggering 236%), the Portmeirion Group’s non-executive chairman Dick Steele made the following statement at the company’s annual general meeting held on 20 May 2010: “In our 2009 results statement, which was announced on 23 March 2010, we stated that sales for the fi rst two months of 2010 were 40% higher than for the corresponding period in 2009. “I am pleased to confi rm that this trend has continued for the four months ended 30 April 2010 and our

sales remain 40% higher than the prior period. However, it is important to note that approximately half of this increase is attributable to sales of Spode and Royal Worcester which, due to the timing of the acquisition, did not generate any revenue in the comparable period last year. “I would also add that despite the uncertain economic environment, we remain positive on the outlook for the remainder of 2010.”

Results announced by the Portmeirion Group showed revenues totalling £43.2m, an increase of 36% and the highest revenue fi gure ever reported by the company. Tel: 01782 744721 www.portmeiriongroup.com Home & Gift Stand: M2
