Called Emma Bridgewater - Spot On For 25 Marvell’s stock goes

live Marvell’s is proud to launch a new addition to its website in the shape of live stock updates. The website is now directly linked to the in-house computer system and updates the actual stock levels twice a day providing some of the most up to date website information in the business. Customers will now benefi t from knowing exactly what proportion of their order will be delivered immediately and will have a good idea when the rest will be available, making stock monitoring simpler and managing the ‘just in time’ stock holding systems being favoured by larger retailers in the sector such as John Lewis, less of a headache for the smaller customer.

Whilst out of stock items cannot be produced on demand, online stock levels will make it easier to schedule deliveries and ensure customers have enough of available lines to tide them over until the next wave.

This will work in conjunction with Marvell’s

recent arrival on Facebook. Aimed at improving the communication channels with their stockists, regular updates on stock arrivals and sell outs plus the chance to leave reviews and comments as well as post images of shops and displays on the site is hoped to further improve the already enviable relationship that Marvell’s has with its customers, many of whom have been with them for over ten years.

Marvell’s customers will now benefi t from not only knowing exactly how much of their stock will be available for immediate delivery but also the expected delivery dates of out of stock consignments, making ordering and forward planning of displays that little bit simpler. Years, this exhibition is a fi rst for the company and it showcases archive items and pieces never seen before.

Guests at Thursday’s preview saw the modern

classics created by Emma - all proudly made in Stoke on Trent - alongside the city’s great forefathers of Doulton, Spode and Wedgwood.

The exhibition runs for the next four months at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery Hanley. The centrepiece of the exhibition is the classic Emma’s kitchen table and dresser showcasing her vibrant yet timeless designs such as Black Toast and Polka Dot. Parents can glean ideas for creating their own displays, and pick up some classic design tips to add a chic note to their own home.

After seeing the exhibits, visitors are invited to stroll down to the factory just a short walk away in Lichfi eld Street for free factory tours every weekday throughout the exhibition (booking is recommended).

The factory is a unique Victorian building, where every piece of Emma Bridgewater ware is hand made and hand decorated - using centuries-old techniques. Also, on site, and open every day, is the Emma Bridgewater gift shop, stocking the widest range of wares in the country along with the factory shop and decorating studio where adults and children alike can create their own masterpieces. Selfridges is “Best Department Store” Selfridges has been awarded the title of the world’s best department store. The London fl agship

shop, famed for its lavish window displays, is only the second to win the award after Saks Fifth Avenue was given the inaugural prize two years ago. Beating off competition from the likes of Bloomingdales in the US and Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, Selfridges was singled out and awarded this retail accolade. The Intercontinental Group of Department Stores and the International Association of Department Stores based the decision on Selfridges’ prestigious profi le, product and store innovation strategies, in-store experience, fi nancial performance and, most importantly, customer service.

Paul Kelly, vice chairman of Selfridges, said: “We are delighted to have won this very special

award and very proud of our teams who have all contributed in making this happen. “This is very much in recognition of all their hard work. This centenary-old brand, built on the most extraordinary heritage, confi rms that Selfridges is the most relevant and exciting department store today.”

The retailer is scheduled to open its second ‘at home’ shop in Croydon in late summer, following the successful opening of John Lewis at home in Poole last October. Andy Street, managing director, John Lewis, said: “Our property team has been hard at work

researching suitable sites for our ‘at home’ format and we’re thrilled our next shops will be in Wiltshire and Kent.”
