Moving Forward 2010
is well underway now and from speaking with the various
ATAC members at the seminars and regional events that have been held so far business appear to be picking up which is promising for the members and industry as a whole. Tis is also reflected by the association’s membership which has now approximately 70 ATAC members which are the best membership figures to date. Tis is down to the ATAC members continuing to provide great service to clients and also down to clients that have recognised the benefits of having ATAC members undertake their works, this is increasingly being seen within contract documents that are prepared with pre requisites such as ATAC membership. Part of the promotion of ATAC’s members
has been through the survey guide seminars which have proven to be a success this year with consultancies and clients alike. Tese
have been very informative and useful as well as being a great place for members and clients to network. Final Seminar 30th June at SCI, London
Another networking event that will be
happening later this year is the annual ATAC golf day on 10th September and is to be held at the Forest of Arden course in Warwickshire; full details will be sent out in due course to members. Diary Date 10th September ATAC Golf Day
ATAC are continuing to move forward and
be at the forefront of the industry by actively taking part in various groups and committees and voicing the industries opinions and best practices as undertaken by its members. ATAC are also currently working with the

commitment that he has put in during his time as Chairman and wish him all the success with Manestream. John has left ATAC in a strong position and I hope to continue where he has left off aswell as introduce some of my own ideas.

I think it would be fair to say that to some
ATAC membership has partly been seen as a way to comply with the exchange of information in line with a company’s UKAS Accreditation. In my short time on the Management Committee and involvement with ATAC it was clear that we have access to a number of committees and groups that influence policy and legislation. Being at the forefront of these discussions enables us to be a significant part of future guidance. Te simple fact is that if we aren’t in the room where these discussions are taking place then we will be biting our necks in frustration

at the final documents. Tis should not be underestimated especially with the competition and market as it is.
During my time as Chairman I will be
looking to increase the membership along with participation by the membership. In exchange for companies giving up their and their staff’s valuable time we are going to look at reduced fees and increased advertising on the website. John improved and updated the website in his time as Chairman and I hope to make the most of this useful tool. Members should be able to use ATAC to their benefit and the website has to be a good start.
John started some good work with offering
new training courses for new Analysts and Ian Stone and myself will be setting out the detail over the coming months.
With Ian Stone, the Membership Manager,
and the commitment of existing members ATAC is becoming a recognised brand and
moving towards a sign of further quality aswell as a very useful source of information. Tis should all lead to more enquiries based on providing a service in accordance with guidelines influenced by our members.
Jonathan Francis Riverside Environmental
RSPH (Royal Society of Public Health) to create industry specific qualifications to help members meet their training requirements. Another part of progression is that Vice
Chairman – Jonathan Francis will soon be taking over the reins as Chairman of ATAC. Jonathan is looking forward to working with ATAC manager Ian Stone and all of the association members. I hope that you all welcome Jonathan as Chairman when he takes over and continue to support and work with him as you have done with me. I would like to take this opportunity to
thank all of the association members for their continued support whilst I have undertaken my term as Chairman of ATAC which has been hard work but thoroughly enjoyable.
