ATaC Conquers Google
THE ATAC WEBSITE IS NOW THE TOP UK ON-LINE DIRECTORY FOR ASBESTOS TESTING AND ASBESTOS CONSULTANCY
L
‘I am delighted to see that the additional work on the website has resulted in even greater exposure for the members via
search engines’ Steve Sadley Chief Executive ARCA
ast winter I met up with Chief Executive, Steve Sadley, and ATaC Chairman, John
O’Sullivan, to discuss a number of exciting possibilities for the new ATaC website. Te most ambitious proposal was to create, search engine optimised, web pages for every county and post code district having at least one ATaC member (approximately 190 web pages). Te objective being to offer the ATaC membership an alternative and cheaper on-line directory to advertise their services than that currently provide by Yell or Touch Local.
In April of this year the necessary development
work was completed and with some anticipation we sat back to wait and see how Google would rank the new web pages. Within 4 weeks Google had re-crawled the website and a Ranking Report carried out on the 9th May confirmed the results to be quite sensational! Te ATaC web pages had out performed Yell
by some margin with Touch Local way back in 3rd place (no hung parliament here). Each county and district web page lists the
ATaC members, in the area, and displays a Google map with location markers. Members will be able to upgrade their standard free listing to an extended listing that displays details of their services, a link to their website, and a button that opens up their own dedicated Member Profile web page. Te Member Profile web page has been specially designed to allow members the scope to comprehensively communicate the key aspects of their business to site visitors. Tis includes the facility to compliment a written summary with up to 10 links to pages within the Member’s website, up to 10 downloadable links for PDFs, the facility to display a YouTube video, a dedicated Enquiry Form, and more.
12 ARCA members need not fear being left out as
a new ARCA website is currently in production that will include all of the above. Te new service will be rolled out to ATaC and ARCA members at the same time. A new Members’ Portal, accessed via the websites, will allow members to view and update their own information. Tis includes the facility to upgrade a standard listing to an advanced listing and setup a profile web page. Further possibilities are currently being
considered to extend the functionality of the list and profile pages. Tese include the facility for members to purchase banner adverts on list pages, including Google Adsense adverts on list pages for Asbestos Legal Services, and allowing members to purchase additional secondary category listings for counties and districts they operate in, which are outside their home county/ district. Profile web pages may include a boxed area to display details about member personnel that have or currently hold an ATaC/ARCA post. At the time of writing it is not decided what
the annual subscription will be for an upgraded listing/profile web page. However, the likelihood is that this will be less than half that charged by Yell or Touch Local. For further details please go to the ATaC website and read the Top Story, “ATaC Conquers Google”. Included here is further information and links to download the latest ranking report, which compares ATaC with Yell and Touch Local. You can check out how your county and district page fares!
