INDULGENCES outrageous by daisy torres
the O’ Donnel’s didn’t seem to be dysfunctional at all. I wouldn’t have been surprised if the kids had been running around driving staff crazy while the parents were oblivious, but instead the kids were very well behaved and instead of being lost in a portable video game, the older boy was quietly playing hangman with his siblings. All in all, Chris O’ Donnell seems like the kind of father I want for my kids some day. Back in San Diego, the Redwing Bar and Grill celebrated its 4th anniversary, with
proud owner Sarah enjoying the celebration along with many of her regular patrons. I wish her and the staff continued success for many years to come. That weekend was a double whammy with House Boi celebrating its 3-year anniver-
sary on Saturday, June 19. Ari and Paul kept everyone going with some cocktails, food from Bamboo Lounge and Bite, and the House Boi Models and Dancers were shaking their booty for everyone to enjoy. I have my favorite amongst the guys and I always go gaga over his sexy body. Too bad he’s taken at least for now. It’s always a delight to go to a House Boi event and this time was even better because my co-columnist Jizz from the O.C./L.A. edition and my friend Disco Dolly were on hand to emcee the party all evening long. With that, we come to the final event of the month and another anniversary. Bourbon
Street was the site of Rage’s third anniversary celebration on June 25. Wow, how time flies. I can’t believe it has been three years since I started this column. It was great to see all of our readers there. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and the cocktails by Jagermeister, Tommy Bahamma and Baron Jager, which is a honey liquor and my new favorite because I love honey, so I was like Pooh in a bee hive. As with past anniversaries, this too was a fundraiser for a good cause. This year the
ADVENTURES DAISY AND RUBY’S It seems like these last few months have been a rollercoaster ride as my life has had
more than its share of ups and downs. I know my column has been missing in action in the magazine lately, but I have been out and about. I’ve just had too much on my plate to make a deadline, and this girl needs her beauty sleep. I can’t afford to pull an all nighter. The important thing though, is that I’m back and I’ve got a lot to tell you about. June kept me busy. I think I’m going to start needing a chauffeur if this keeps up, especially for out of town trips to destinations like Los Angeles. I went to L.A. for Pride with my friends Alexa and Jessica. It had been a while since I attended L.A. Pride, and I had a “gay old time.” Fortunately, I was wearing some sensible shoes because I was on my feet all day watching the parade and exploring the festival. While I was up there in L.A., I had some celebrity sightings. On Sunday, after a long
night of partying, I stumbled upon actor Rodney Chester, who played Alex on Noah’s Arc. He was having a great time and I didn’t want to interrupt, so we just exchanged some words about how I loved the show, how sad I was when it went off the air and the fact that I had a crush on his on screen lover, Gregory Keith. The next day I stopped on my way home in Anaheim to have lunch with Kitty and I
had another stud celebrity sighting. We were at California Pizza Kitchen and in walked NCIS Los Angeles stud Chris O’ Donnell along with his family. He was obviously between seasons of the show and was looking a little scruffy, but still very studly none the less. I’m always curious to find out if actors look as good as they do on screen and whether they are as tall as I imagine because some of them are surprisingly short. O’ Donnell was no disappointment. The man is actually a regular-sized guy. What was most surprising was that he seemed to be a great family man. Too often we hear about Hollywood families with out-of-control children and absent parents, but

money went to help our friend Kelly Gilliland from the San Diego Gay Rodeo who just got a new title Mr. IGRA 2nd Runner Up and with it, new responsibilities, so he needs as much funding as possible in order to represent our lovely city in the rodeos nationwide. As we turn our attention to this month, obviously the biggest event for the commu-
nity is San Diego Pride, which takes place July 15-17 this year. I’m kicking things off at Bacchus with a special Pride show at my Wednesday Latin
Night with special guest performer Sparkle Stones from L.A. and local up-and-coming singer Adrian joining Jenny, Claudia Cristina, and myself to kick off Pride Latin style! I will have some extra goodies, including tickets to the Pride Festival, in my swag bags for the night’s raffles. Speaking of the festival, I have the honor to be the emcee of the Latin Stage on Sat-
urday at the Festival, so I hope you all stop by and say hello and check out some of the amazing talent Pride has lined up this year. I will not only be introducing the different performers throughout the day, but I will also have some games and giveaways you won’t want to miss. I’m looking forward to the entertainment we have lined up this year. On Saturday
night we have Eve performing on the main stage as the headliner, and on Sunday none other than Devo will be bringing the festival to a close with some new songs from their latest CD and classics from the past. Pride is not just a parade and a festival, there is plenty of action around town to enjoy.
Of course, the Zoo Party on Sunday is one of the most anticipated Pride parties of the weekend and every bar in town is open with some fantastic promotions and special performers, so there is something for everyone out there. Don’t just take my word for it though, check out our calendar of events on page 74 and our community pages on 12- 15, and if you’re still lost, plenty of our advertisers are promoting their special events, so check them out too. And with that said, all there is for me to do is to wish you a Happy Pride. Remember,
Pride is not just about having a party, it’s also about finding out what you can do to help different causes and help our community fight all the battles we still face before we can be equal citizens of this nation. We all can make a difference. Be safe and enjoy.
