working condition, while maximizing the use of our existing spaces. Many members asked what that unique

smell was on June 4. It was the sealer for the Main Gym floor, used to keep the freshly painted court lines from bleeding out and through the freshly sanded wood floor. Unfortunately the sealer was applied that morning rather than the night before, which did not allow any time for it to dissipate before members used the club. The later protective coats were applied late at night and had minimal impacts. While the gym floors should be resealed annually, a full sand, repair, paint and seal is needed much less frequently. During May and part of June, the E&C

Deck was closed while the side of the club was painted. That area is open once again. June also brought the temporary relocation of the Pilates equipment room to squash doubles court 1 on the subbasement level. When completed the expanded Pilates equipment room will house all of the Pilates equipment from three different locations around the club, and offer the use of that equipment to classes and trainers at all hours. The stretching room was also relocated to the Gallery of Champions and returns to an expanded space as well, with the west wall moving out about six feet.

Routine maintenance projects continue, such as the West and 50-meter pools shut- ting down for tile, lights, floor, bulkhead and pump systems to be reviewed and repaired. Other courts are sanded and sealed throughout the year. We apologize for the inconvenience these closures and disruptions may cause, but they are necessary to keep our athletics spaces clean, safe and functional for you. I hope you continue to enjoy your summer, and look forward to seeing you around the club this month. WM
