MAC Triathletes Excel on Land and in Water A
fter months of training, MAC triath- letes competed at the Blue Lake triathlon and duathlon June 5-6. The event is considered an opening to the triathlon season. Triathlon clubs and individuals from across the Northwest converged on Blue Lake Park to swim, bike and run. MAC was represented well, with a
combination of first-timers and veterans competing. Member Coaches Linnea Alvord and Bridget Dawson led the group with training that included group swims, runs and rides. There were open water swims at Hagg Lake, where members could try out their wet suits and discover the difference of swimming in a lake versus a pool. There was also a dry-run practice at Blue Lake Park, where members practiced transitioning from swim to bike and bike to run. It all came together for a wonderful weekend of competing at Blue Lake.
Triathlon clubs and individuals from across the Northwest converged on Blue Lake Park to swim, bike and run.

The Triathlon and Running Committee’s next events are the Hagg Lake Triathlon Saturday, July 10 and the Portland Tri Sunday, Aug. 22. Come join the fun and look for the MAC tent at these events.
Group swims
Starting July 8, MAC members can join other Portland-area triathlon clubs Thursdays at 6 p.m. for group swims in the Willamette River in preparation for the Portland Tri. Participants should meet at the dock next to Riverplace.
