DATE NIGHT Shawn Levy, the director of the Night at the Mu- seum films, brings together two of comedy’s big- gest heavy hitters in Steve Carrell and Tina Fey. When the frumpy married couple takes another couples’ dinner reservations, their lives get turned upside down.
FURRY VENGEANCE A battle is launched between man and nature when a developer tries to pave over paradise in this animated feature. Dan (Brendan Fraser) moves his family from Chicago to Oregon to head up an “eco-friendly” housing development and the animals aren’t happy about it, so they set out for sabotage.
THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering and her body was never found. Her uncle determined it was a murder and a member of his dysfunctional family hires a dis- graced journalist and a tattooed computer hacker to investigate. Based on the best selling novel.
IRON MAN 2 Tony Star (Robert Downey Jr.) is back in action and the world is now aware that the billionaire in- ventor is armored super hero Iron Man. Now, he’s under pressure from the government, press, and the public to share his technology with the mili- tary, but he fears it may fall into the wrong hands. And it probably will.
JUST WRIGHT Queen Latifah stars as a physical therapist who begins working with an NBA star (played by Com- mon) and wouldn’t you know it, she falls in love with him. This should make for a fine romantic comedy, but while we’ve got Queen Latifah and Common together, they should at least rap a little bit. Don’t ya think?
LETTERS TO JULIET Amanda Seyfried plays a young American who travels to Verona, home to the world’s most fa- mous star-crossed-lovers. She joins a group of volunteers who respond to letters written to Ju- liet seeking love advice. The author of one letter is inspired to travel to Italy to find her long-lost love, which sets off a chain of events to bring both characters true love.
MACGRUBER Will Forte and Kristin Wiig bring their Saturday Night Live sketch about the worldÐs most clue- less American hero to life on the big screen. Mac- Gruber had sworn off crime fighting since his fi- ancée was killed 10 years ago, but when he learns his country needs him to find a nuclear warhead stolen by his sworn enemy he gets back in the saddle to save the day.
BABIES Filmmakers capture the earlier stages of develop- ment by following four newborn babies through their first year of life. The film follows babies from Namibia, Mongolia, Japan, and California and shows us just how much we all have in common despite being raised by different parents and in different cultures.
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET Five friends all living on Elm Street each have the same disturbing dream about a disfigured man with a torn up red and green stripped sweater, a disfigured face, and a gardener’s glove with knives for fingers. When one of them dies, they realize what happens in their dreams happens for real and must stay awake to stay alive.
PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME Set in the mystical land of Persia, a rogue prince named Dastan (super hottie Jake Gyllenhaal) joins forces with a mysterious princess named Tamina. The two race against dark forces to pro- tect a dagger known to release The Sands of Time – an ancient gift from the gods which allows the possessor to reverse time and rule the world.
FILM SHORTS TM
A CAT AND A DOG HANGING OUT TOGETHER? NOW WE’VE SEEN EVERYTHING WITH MARMADUKE.
MARMADUKE Owen Wilson brings to life the gigantic, family- friendly Great Dane of comic strip fame. When his family, the Winslows move to Orange County, California from Kansas, the angsty teenage dog has some trouble adjusting.
ROBIN HOOD OK. So here’s the deal. This movie is nothing like the super-sweet Kevin Costner version because it’s about Robin Hood before he was really Robin Hood. This time around, Russell Crowe plays the badass archer who returns from war to Notting- ham, where he forms a militia and begins crafting a folk hero reputation for himself.
