Glidden Toy Museum Open For Season
The Glidden Toy Museum, 49 Main St., Ashland opens for
the season on Thursday,July 1. Museum will be open July and August from 1-4pm Wednesday through Friday. Come and enjoy 5 rooms of antique toys. Parking on Main or Pleasant St. Annual Appraisal Day for any antiques, books, and/or collect- ibles will be Tues. July 20 3-5pm. $4 per item or 3 for $10. Info, call 603-968-7289.
Chris-Craft Boats At The NH Boat Museum
The New Hampshire Boat Museum in Wolfeboro invites the
public to attend a free presentation on Chris-Craft boats on Thurs- day, July 8 at 7pm by author Jack Savage. The presentation will include the history of the company, from
its origins in the early 1920s, to its sale by the Smith family in 1960, the subsequent conversion to fiberglass, to the last wooden boat built in the early 1970s. Jack will focus on the development of the Chris-Craft Runabouts and how the company did much to revolutionize boat building and the boat marketing industry. The New Hampshire Boat Museum’s activities are sponsored in
part by generous donations from CE Humphrey Associates, LLC, Lakes Region Coca Cola and The Wolfeboro Inn. The Museum is celebrating its 10th season in Wolfeboro this
year and is open daily through Columbus Day Weekend, Monday through Saturday 10am-4pm, and Sunday 12-4pm. Housed in the historic Allen “A” Resort’s original dance hall, the Museum is located at 397 Center Street (Route 28/109), two miles from downtown Wolfeboro. “Big House, Little House, Back House, Barn”
The Moultonborough Heritage Commission and the Moulton- borough Public Library will co-host the New Hampshire Humani- ties Council program ‘“Big House, Little House, Back House, Barn” on Wednesday, July 7th at 7pm at the Moultonborough Library. This event is free and open to the public. Professor Thomas Hubka will speak on New England farm
architecture, and specifically on the connected farm compounds characteristic of northern New England. His presentation il- lustrates how typically separate houses and barns were con- verted into connected farmsteads. The author of “Big House, Little House, Back House, Barn,” Professor Hubka teaches in the Department of Architecture of the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. The Community Landmarks Series is intended to promote the recognition and appreciation of significant historical and cultural resources in the Town of Moultonborough.
