2009 - 2010 California Sales In-Review


2010 California State Convention Sale Te California Highlight Sale held in con- junction with the Host Night of the 2010 California State Holstein Convention at Hero’s Sports Bar in Modesto was a great success, averaging $3,569 on 33 lots. A majority of the lots were choices of flush, or calves and yearling heifers sold in ab- sentee. Chris Hill served as auctioneer, with Gilbert Teixeira announcing pedi- grees; Tony DeMello and Robert Teixeira worked as sale chairmen.


Three lots topped the sale at $5000:


Lot 11 - 1st Choice of 3 Goldwyns all bred to Golden-Oaks ST Alexander-ET sold to Quaresma Dairy; Manteca, CA. Te dam of the Sept 2008 Goldwyns is Zendi Out- side Eve-ET, EX 92, granddaughter of Ze- ndi Van-Mark Ebony, EX 96.


Lot 2 - Kisst Jeeves Sunburst-ET (born March 1, 2009) sold to Jim and Bill Ge- nasci; Modesto, CA. Sunburst is a Jeeves calf from Cabernet Goldwyn Sunlight- ET, EX 90, consigned by John Kisst of Ri- pon, California.


Merced County Club Sale Te Merced County Holstein Club Sale was held April 23 at the Merced Fair- grounds, in conjunction with the Cali- fornia State Holstein Show and Spring Jersey Show. 55 lots sold for an average of $2197.


Top live Holstein was Den-K Laurin TJ Bella-ET, consigned by Den-K and pur- chased by Joseph Azevedo.


Lot 4 – 1st Choice of 6 Females sired by Shottle from Markwell Goldwyn Mitzi- ET (VG-88) born 3/09-6/09 sold to Man- uel Maciel and Jim Wilson; Hanford, CA. Mitzy is a Goldwyn daughter from the Raven family.

Top of the sale was Exels Carrier Polly 2109 consigned by Jennifer Van Exel, and pur- chased by Chris Hill. High selling Holstein was 5 shottle embryos from McClelland Dundee Illana, consigned by Jason Mast and purchased by Legend Dairy.


2009 Christmas Holiday Revue Sale Te Christmas Holiday Revue Sale was held on December 12, 2009 at the A& M Livestock Auction Yard in Hanford, Calif. Holstein’s, Jersey’s and Brown Swiss were sold. Te Holstein’s averaged $1712 on 74 head, Jersey’s averaged $1504 on 13 head and the Brown Swiss averaged $2,121 on 7 head. Te top seller went home to Souza & Souza for $4,700. She was a September 08 Advent that came from four generations of excellent dams. She was consigned by Shar Partners.
